There is a solution to having straighter teeth without having to wear metal braces. Known as invisible orthodontics, this type of treatment offers you the choice of wearing a clear and sometimes removable appliance while straightening and aligning your teeth.Download a voucher for a free orthodontic consultation worth up to £70
This is often a favourable option for adults who have professional careers and don't feel comfortable wearing unsightly 'train track' braces for months on end. The technology behind invisible orthodontics is highly advanced and often gives patients a much shorter treatment time, depending on their individual cases.
Benefits of this type of treatment include having teeth straightened in a generally shortened period of time, straighter teeth and alignment of your top and bottom jaws. You can also enjoy the flexibility of your braces being hidden from an untrained eye, making you feel less self-conscious when socialising or speaking in public. With removable devices, you can also take them out to eat or for special occasions, so they fit around your lifestyle.
It is important to remember that straighter teeth are healthier teeth. When your bite is properly aligned and your teeth are straightened, there are fewer gaps and areas for food to get trapped and plaque to build up on the teeth, causing decay. In that sense, invisible orthodontics is a long-term investment in your oral health.
Invisalign treatment is a virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth. Using advanced 3D computer-imaging technology, Invisalign shows you your complete treatment plan based on Adam's prescription, from the initial position of your teeth towards the final desired position. Then a series of clear aligners are custom-made for your teeth to move them little by little.
Each aligner is worn for about two weeks before being replaced by the next in the series, gradually moving towards the projected final position. The treatment time depends on your specific needs and will be decided by Adam.
Invisalign aligners move teeth through a series of carefully controlled movements. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign treatment not only controls the amount of movement that each aligner delivers, but also the timing of the movement. So, at each stage, only certain teeth can move, following the Invisalign treatment plan for that particular stage. This results in an efficient force delivery system.
As with other types of orthodontic treatment, the cost of Invisalign treatment depends on the complexity of your teeth straightening issue and your course of treatment. As a general rule the cost for adults is comparable to traditional fixed braces and is typically between £2,500 and £5,500, although if only minor tooth movement is required, prices could start from £1,500. Adam will be able to discuss with you the accurate cost specific to your needs.

At your consultation, Adam will discuss your needs and evaluate whether Invisalign treatment is right for you.
Adam will use the iTero® digital scanning system to create a fast, precise 3D digital image of your teeth (Some dentists will take physical impressions).
Adam will work out a precise prescription. This together with the scan and photos are sent to an Invisalign technician. They process the information and create a digital treatment plan (known as a Clincheck). This shows the exact movements of your teeth and how long your treatment will take. You'll get to see how your teeth will move and preview your new smile in the Clincheck at your review appointment with Adam.
After approving your treatment plan (Clincheck), Invisalign starts manufacturing your aligners which normally arrive at the practice within 2 weeks.
Your custom-made aligners will be made of Invisalign's proprietary SmartTrack® material. They're virtually invisible, so most people won't even notice you're wearing them.
Wear your Invisalign clear aligners 20 to 22 hours a day for the best results, taking them out to eat and to brush and floss.
As you wear each set of aligners, your teeth will gently and gradually shift into place. Adam may recommend that you begin wearing a new set of aligners every week and schedule check-ups every four to six weeks or so.
At every stage, you'll be able to see your progress and imagine how far your new smile will take you.
When your treatment is complete, retention is essential - ideally using fixed and removable retainers. Adam can provide Vivera® retainers.
Vivera retainers are custom-made using the same state-of-the-art technology as Invisalign clear aligners.
